i know this would never take off, because trying to get a group of people on tumblr to do something is like herding cats, but could the x reader fandom agree on a collective tag to use for ambiguous drabble-style posts with multiple character names at the bottom? e.g. ‘#adapt drabbles’ or ‘#archetype drabbles’ or something along those lines, just so that people who don’t like reading them can block the tag (and that those who do can follow it!)

….i’m not supposed to be asleep. noooo don’t look at me i’m having thoughts. mattsun for mey maybe suggestive? idk it’s usual flirting guys *shrug

“there’s only one bed.” she points out and he holds back a laugh as he nods. “matsukawa issei you tell me right now you didn’t plan this.” she’s not sure how to feel. this is probably just another stupid prank of his and he has another room key in his pocket.

“scout’s honor,” he holds up his hands with a smug grin. no, he didn’t plan it. but he wishes he did, fate is just a better planner he guesses.

“you were never a scout you can’t say that.” she pinches the bridge of her nose and sighs. as she goes about unpacking her bag she sets up all of her cords and plugs her phone in. “you’ve been driving all day, get some rest.”

“oh? wanna sleep with me that badly? all you had to do was ask pretty girl.” he smirks and lays on the bed. she stops herself from scoffing as a dastardly thought passes her mind. she crawls closer to him and he can feel himself choke on air.

“you don’t seem to mind too much either issei.” she smiles as she rests one hand on the headboard and leans over him. “cat got your tongue?”

“you can kiss with tongue i don’t mind.” he manages to get out and hopes it doesn’t sound too forced. he hopes his cheeks don’t give away just how flustered he is as he feels his face burn.

“okay issei,” she laughs and gets up from the bed. she steps over him to do so because the bed is flush with the wall. why did she decide to allow herself to be crowded in by him? she doesn’t think about it as she changes her car clothes into her pajamas and goes back to the room to find mattsun in a similar state.

“goodnight.”

“goodnight pretty girl.”

when she wakes up in the middle of the night and she turns over she doesn’t think much about the arms that have snaked their way around her waist. or the face that’s pressed in the crook of her neck. “stop moving,” she hears a voice mumble against her skin before he presses a kiss there. she halts her actions and begins to think too much about his arms around her and his face pressed against her skin.

his thumb found its way just under the hem of her shirt and rests on her hipbone as she feels his warm breaths against her neck. “are you nervous?” is he not? based on the show earlier she would assume he would be more nervous about the situation. “don’t be.”

“why?” she hadn’t realized he was whispering until she heard her voice break through the carefully built silence of the room. “why shouldn’t i be nervous.”

“what is there to be nervous about?” he lifts his head and his curls are even messier than they usually are. his voice slightly deeper but she really shouldn’t think about that now.

“i don’t want to tell you.”

“can i tell you why you shouldn’t be nervous?” there’s a pause for a moment and neither move, the only sound the gentle sound of crickets in the background and the occasional thump of a tree branch gently hitting the pane of their hotel window. “you shouldn’t be nervous because i love you.”

“in what way issei?”

“you know what way.”

“will you say it…for me?”

“i love you in a way that’s more than friendship. i love you in the way that i smile at my phone when i get any sort of notification from you or when i ‘accidentally’ buy more than one drink and ‘happen’ to give it to you.”

“i love you too.”

“i know,” she hits his shoulder lightly. “ow.” he yelps in faux pain and she can’t help but laugh a little. “laughing at my pain now pretty girl? what a low blow.”

“shut up.” her arms wrapped around him and she pulls him closer. “i’m not nervous anymore.”

“good. goodnight pretty girl.”

“goodnight silly boy.”

and oh my goodness yes i love ennoshita 😭 like he may be a character that doesn't "stand out" as much, yet he contributes something special to the team.

maybe it's also self-projection, because i get nervous when the spotlight is on me; i prefer doing more behind-the-scenes stuff but still being reliable. i've also had my fair share of running away from things, especially this year.

in that sense, i find ennoshita super relatable. he's the person who would really empathize with you and understand the struggle, not dismiss it. also MAN idk he looks so cute DHSKSNSJ SIGH i love him
